Random Thoughts on Things Asian

Welcome. Let’s take a random walk through Asia, and things Asian…

Man Mo Temple

Hong Kong’s Man Mo Temple (文武廟) for the God of Literature (Man Tai – 文帝) and  the God of War (Mo Tai – 武帝), is located on the island’s Hollywood Road.

It is popular with tourists (large tourist buses can often be seen parked outside the temple) as well as the local population.

Hong Kongers come to pray and make offerings around many of the festivals (eg: Chinese New Year). It is especially crowded right before the start of the school year in September. The God of Literature is thought to be very responsive to prayers for better school results. Or so the locals believe.
